Beacon Home Services found out the hard way that _missed weekend calls_ were their biggest leak.
The diagnosis
The team ran a two-week audit of their phone logs. 41% of inbound calls arriving on Saturday and Sunday went straight to voicemail. Of those, fewer than 1 in 5 left a message. The rest were inferred-lost to competitors.
Hiring a weekend desk wasn't economically viable for a 22-rep shop.
The fix
Beacon turned on RepLine's AI receptionist for after-hours and weekend windows. The agent:
- Picks up within two rings.
- Captures name, address, callback number and urgency.
- Books a confirmed callback into the on-call rep's calendar.
- Hands off cleanly with a transcript when a rep dials back.
What changed
- After-hours booked-callback rate went from effectively 0% to 27% of inbound calls.
- Reps come in Monday with a sorted queue of leads, not a voicemail box.
- Beacon reports the AI handles roughly 180 calls / month at a cost a fraction of a single weekend FTE.
The honest caveat
The AI doesn't replace a rep on a complex call. When the conversation gets technical, the AI offers to schedule a human callback rather than guessing. Beacon's leadership preferred this; their reps closed deals their AI receptionist could not.
